I’m Maria Ford, and Progressive Tense is my personal blog, where I share my creative writing, including poetry, prose-poetry, personal/lyric essays, and thought/opinion pieces. The focus is short pieces that keep me accountable to writing and sharing regularly as an antidote to perfectionism.
I started Progressive Tense after experiencing a severe burnout. Throughout 2018, I documented the process of healing. I began with the article, “What are you DOING?” 2019 was a year of vulnerability and transition during which I did not write here at all.
To know me, you need to read me, yet for decades I didn’t share my personal writing. Then I did, then I stopped. In 2020 I revived Progressive Tense to share personal thoughts AND, for the first time, my creative writing, as well.
