In this galaxy of bright
named and unnamed stars
each of us is both:
named and unnamed.
I see you and you see me
our glitters a little hotter
than others because we are
named to each other.
Before we were named
we were ourselves but not
each other’s, our orbits
inconsequential.
Now we know we turn
around the same centre,
share the same galaxy,
float in the same direction,
swimming in a current
with a million others
connected for some reason
we don’t remember.
Ours is a galaxy full
of bright things,
none brighter than
you to me, me to you.
